Vlad Tudor runs one-day AI workshops for law firms and legal departments in Romania, built around the two things lawyers ask first: where the answer comes from, and where the client's data goes. He created ai-aflat.ro, the free AI assistant for Romanian legislation, and was invited to speak to 100 lawyers at Baroul Cluj because of it.

A tool nobody explained.
In the Romanian Bar's own 2026 survey, most responding lawyers already use AI tools, and most of them keep it away from the work that matters. That is a reasonable reaction to a tool nobody explained.
A model that invents a citation is doing exactly what it was built to do: produce a plausible next word. Once a lawyer sees why, the habits follow on their own: ask for the source, check the version of the law, decide what never goes into a public tool.

- How a language model writes, and why it invents citations with confidence.
- The versions problem: why a general chatbot may quote a law that has since changed.
- Research versus verdicts: how ai-aflat.ro is built to say which law applies, never “yes, you're allowed”.

- Exercise 1: a research question from your practice, answered with sources, then checked against the official text.
- Exercise 2: a long file summarised into a chronology, verified line by line.
- Exercise 3: a first pass on a contract against your firm's standard positions.
- Exercise 4: a client email explaining a legal point in plain language, reviewed by the group.
- Round-up: a one-page firm rule on what goes into which tool.
On Monday, lawyers can:
- use AI for research without trusting an unsourced answer;
- check which version of the law an answer relies on;
- keep client data out of tools that shouldn't see it;
- hand a junior a first draft to correct instead of a blank page.

How much does it cost?
It depends on the format and the size of the group. After a short call you get a written proposal before anything is agreed.
Online or on site?
At your office, because the exercises run on your documents and those should not travel. Online delivery is possible on request, discussed case by case.
In Romanian or English?
Either. Most firms choose Romanian with Romanian law; international teams can have English delivery.
How many lawyers can attend?
Up to 20 for the workshop, so everyone works through the exercises. For a Bar or a large firm, a talk with questions works for a bigger room, as it did for 100 lawyers in Cluj.
Does it satisfy Article 4 of the AI Act?
Article 4 asks organisations that use AI to take measures to support the AI literacy of the people using it on their behalf. A workshop on your own tools and documents is such a measure, and you keep the agenda and materials as a record. The Act asks for effort, not a certificate. Whether it is enough for your firm is a legal judgement, and on this page that judgement is probably yours. I don't give compliance guarantees.
